*giggle*

Okay. I know I probably shouldn't be so freaking giddy over this, but...

Heeheehee.

I redeemed my name!!!!!!! Bwahahaha!

*ahem*

Okay. A bit of history. Two months ago today, when you Googled "Sarah Cada", my website was NOT on the first page. It was on the 6th.

The sixth!!!

Aiyayayay.

The first several SERPs are filled with links pointing to a certain doctor with the same name. I don't know if it's just one doctor, or if there's a lot of them. I think there's more than one, because I distinctly remember one link being Sarah Cada MD and the other one Sarah Cada PhD. And some of the pages are in Spanish. So yeah. Coulda been different people.

Well, sor-ry for ranting about that, but it's MY name!

But, anyway. That's the past.

This is the present:

...Okay, fine, so the second result is not me, but hey! The other links after that are me! Memememememe!

Heeeheeeheee....

As a follow-up to my previous post...

I'm very very happy to say that my stats are continually improving! I thought that, after my episode with Problogger's Top 5 Group Writing Project, my pageview count was going to plummet back down to ground zero. But, surprisingly, my pageviews had been maintained at 10-15 views/day. Not a phenomenal number, but a relatively good number, nonetheless. Compared to March's 0-2 views per day, that's really good, isn't it?

My own reaction to my traffic was funny. Part of me wanted to say "Nyerks. Just 15 views?", yet the other part of me jumped up and down at the improvement. It did take a lot of effort reading up on SEO and taking action to implement what I learned. I'm not really sure which strategy helped my traffic, though. Haha!

Linkbaiting is an art, really. I took a week to focus on getting my traffic up, and it made my Technorati ranking go from 485,994 to 99,006 in seven days. Like, whoa! (Yes, I actually kept track.)

In case you want to try and do the same thing for your site, here's the stuff I did:

I got my links out there by commenting on blogs. Aside from encouraging other bloggers by leaving a positive or helpful reaction or critique, leaving your URL on the blogs can help your linkage. When people read your comment and see how helpful you are (or how you think the same way they do), they just might click on the link and visit your site. And they just might like it! Yey for you, if that's the case.

I also joined bloglistings. There are a hundred gazzillion directories out there, and you're bound to find one that fits you best. Scroll down, and you can see the buttons of the listings I joined. All of them are free, I think, so go nuts and submit away! :)

Contests are fun because they not only give you something to blog about, but they also give you a chance to win cash, and, on top of that, get linkage! Contests usually list and link the entries, so that's link love for you.

I got on the Technorati train, but I haven't checked if anybody got on the train after me. Seeing that my Technorati authority spiked up (and people are faving my blog), I think it's safe to say that it's effective! Try it!

Heeheehee. This may not be a tutorial on how to make your site popular, but I hope you got something out of it. Good luck!

I checked out my stats today, and I'm very happy to say that my site (my journal, to be more specific) is increasingly getting readers. It's not spiking up, but the traffic increase is pretty consistent.
Random Snowflakes stats - May 14 by StatCounter

According to Google Analytics, my traffic shot up when I wrote my post on the Top 5 Worst Things They Do In Movie Sequels.

Now the challenge is to keep the traffic up (or make it higher by writing more stuff that people will want to read about, and even refer to friends. I'm not sure if my Technorati train got anywhere... If you used it, please tell me! :) If you want to get your rankings up, this is a great tool, I swear! Especially if you have other friends who will use this. ^_^

I'm slowly inclining to make my journal a help/review blog instead of a personal one. Hehe. We'll see.

On to other news, I validated my website today, and it's kind of disappointing to see 115 errors on there. *sigh* I tried eliminating all of them, but most of the errors are not in my code. Instead, they're in the code I got from tracker scripts and other widgets. How am I supposed to fix that, then? >_<
